Mar 22, 2009 I don't know if I'm posting in the right section, but here's my scenerio: I have a Windows 2003 R2 w/ SUA which I need to use for the NFS client.

I have a Windows 2003 R2 box and an AIX 5.2 box. I need to move files from AIX to Windows 2003. I already have NFS setup on the AIX box and a mount point back to a Windows 2000 server that's working. I'm trying to duplicate this on Windows 2003, so I can retire the Win2k server.

I've a copy of SFU355EL_EN.exe on the Windows 2003 box. Datafit 8 Download. If I understand correctly I need to install just the NFS client on Windows 2003. I've been reading some of the solutions for this setup in EE. One of them mentions the MS KB#324055, I'm using this KB as a guide. If it's a poor guide please let me know. The command msiexec /I C: tmp sfusetup.msi /qb addlocal='NFSClient' [sfudir='install path'] mentioned in the KB, causes the msi help screen that displays the switches and options to pop up. I've extracted all the files into c: tmp.

Is there an error in the command string? I've also ran the setup.exe command. I'm asking for help with setting up the User Name Mapping? I'm not sure of how to set this up and this has always confused me. The user who creates the files on AIX has both an AIX and Windows account with Admin previlages on both. If you need more info on this point, let me know. Any other suggestions, pointers, arcticles, etc on how to set this up are welcome.

I gave Omar the points because I picked up the User Name Mapping settings from the MS demo's he provided a link for. I stated in my original post the kb article I was using for a guide that he provided in another link. For the other uninitiated out there here's what I stepped though that worked.

I started by creating empty folders on the Windows Server and the Aix Server for the mount points. I ftp'ed copied the /etc/passwd and group files from Aix into c: windows system32 driver s etc. I extracted the files from SFU355EL_EN.exe into a tmp folder on the Windows server. Following KB 324084 I ran the setup.exe and installed Client for NFS, PCNFS, User Name Mapping on the Windows server. Checked the services on Windows and saw that the three new services were all running. I checked the Sharing and Security settings on the folder on the Windows server. The NFS tab I was expecting to see was not available.

I shared it out anyway using the standard Share and granted the permissions. Using Smit on the Aix box I tried to create the NFS mount point and it failed saying the folder didn't exist on the Windows server. Back on the Windows box, I ran setup again and installed the NFS Server, and the NFS Server Authentication modules. Chicken N Beer Ludacris Zippyshare. Checked the services again and saw the NFS server service was running along with the three others I just added. Checked the Sharing and Security setting on the folder and saw the NFS tab had been added. I created the Share under the NFS tab. Back on the Aix box using Smit I created the NFS mount point successfully this time.

Back on the Windows server I used the Windows Services for UNIX Administration Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to configure the user name mapping.
