You are looking at a 922 loader. CAT made the 922 and 944 models with rear wheel steering before they went to articulated loaders. They're not bad old loaders, the main thing to watch out for other than just being worn out, is frame cracks along about the transmission mount.

It'll be sort of hidden behind the hydaulic oil tank and fender on one side and the fuel tank and fender on the other. Get up unside and inspect it closely. It's not that it can't be welded and plated, it's just a bunch of trouble to do and it's hard to get the sheetmetal to work right after adding some plate in there. Not much way to get it on the inside.

Those loaders aren't much for pushing, CAT seems to have designed them that way so they wouldn't tear up the loader boom etc. I think they were being really conservative when you look at the amount of steel in those compared to a new loader. Still it isn't likely to spin the wheels much on good surfaces.

It has a high 2 wd /low 4 wd range gearshift which you have to stop to shift and then a 2 speed powershift transmission handle right next to it which goes back to neutral every time you shut off the engine. Crank it up, pull the shifter into low and then push the forward/reverse lever on the steering column the direction you want to go and give it the gas! Brakes were never noted for great holding power and most of them are probably frozen up long ago. There are several designs of master cylinders/boosters for the air over hydraulic system they all have. Azbuka Pro Font Download Free here. Simplest version is a single air brake pancake cylinder pushing a single chamber hydraulic master cylinder which feeds all 4 wheels with shoe brakes. The air cylinder and master cylinder for that one are pretty standard parts with kits still available.

Other versions were a lot more complicated and parts maybe available from CAT. The big brake on the front usually works!

We've got one I bought from the other side of the state. It had had an unsuccessful Perkins transplant which had been removed before we got it. We overhauled an industrial D320 turbocharged engine from a large forklift to put in it. Lucked into the engine for free, but it had been flooded and was rusted up. Didn't pay much for ours, but would have been cheaper to have done instead of all the spendy repair work. Steering gear is out on it right now, and it still needs brakes and some oil seals in the axle.

Definately a work in SLOW progress!

Toyota Forklift Year by Model Number Decoding forklift model numbers can be difficult to begin with and it seems as though Toyota only makes it harder. Each year Toyota creates a model number with a different set of letters and numbers that all stand for something. These characters make up the engine type, construction features, any model changes, how it’s powered, the load capacity and more. The different characters in the model number are explained in the coding system below. In the example, there are 8 characters in the model number although the coding system shows 9 possible characters. For any empty spot like the one below, it means there is no information applicable to the forklift so you can simply skip that section.
