I just returned from a lovely day at the Willow Creek Spa. I checked in at the Spa front desk, and asked to pay the bill for both my facial and my sister's (it was her birthday). The cost was substantial and included an 18% gratuity, which was fine. The facials were very well done, using nice products and quite experienced therapists. My sister's therapist mentioned the 'Good Neighbor' policy that extends discounts of some kind to guests who live nearby (I do). I went back to the check - in desk to ask about this, and was given a fairly vague and rather rude response and told to 'fill out a card for next time'.
Conversely, we went to the Big 3 restaurant for lunch, and our server asked us immediately if we were locals, and automatically gave us a 20% discount. Needless to say, the cost of the entire lunch was still less than what the 'neighbor' rate discount on the treatments would have been. I was just disappointed by the way it was handled by the Spa.
It seemed like they were trying to avoid the whole thing. If so, take it off of your website! From the moment we pulled up in our economy rental car (ha!) - it was great. The valets were so friendly and funny and to be greeted with sparkling wine really started our stay off beautifully. Upon check in, our room was a bit delayed - no worries - another complimentary drink while we waited!
We upgraded to the Mission Suite and that was so beautiful! Fireplace, huge jacuzzi tub and a balcony overlooking a fountain. It was our anniversary - and chocolate strawberries were sent up with a lovely note. The entire staff was so gracious and warm. Concierge really listened to what we wanted to do - and totally gave us the best recommendations.
I would highly suggest joining the Presidents Club - costs nothing and you get free WIFI! (I still think it's outdated to charge for that, but that's just me). The spa was terrific too - the pool with the music playing - a definite must do. Would LOVE to stay here again if (WHEN) we are able to come back! I spent the weekend there after being referred to SMI by some people in my industry. It was definitely worth it.
Some people who made the experience amazing for my partner and I were Allie from 38 Degrees (seriously one of the best) Katt at the Front Desk and Faye at the Concierge. After phoning Katt at the front desk several times she put in a request for us to be upgraded to a mission suite when we arrived. When we got there, the front desk representative who checked us in Erick accidentally read our room wrong, but was unable to provide us with a mission suite (oh well hopefully next time we come we can get an upgrade!) The food at 38 Degrees was fantastic. I recommend the Chateau Montelena and the Merry Edwards to drink. Fantastic bottles of wine. As I mentioned earlier Allie made this first evening for us truly memorable.
When we arrived back at our room there was a complimentary bottle of bubbly left by Kat which was a very intimate gesture we both greatly appreciated. The room was nice, the fireplace was a great added touch, but I will agree with many of the other reviews listed on here that the rooms could use a pick-me-up for the rate that the Fairmont is charging their guests. HOWEVER, the rate is definitely worth it for use of the spa. The easter brunch was fantastic as well, but at $99 per person, with no price listed until afterwards, and no alternatives for breakfast, a little more than we were looking to spend.
My partner and I both got the Harvest Kur and spent most of the day in the WIllow Stream Spa. It is a must-do if you are staying at this property. It is truly the best way to un-plug from the world and enjoy an ablution and spa treatments that are some of the best Wine Country has to offer.
Faye at the concierge recommend some excellent wineries for us to enjoy the following day. We spent quite a bit of money during our stay at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, but to completely relax and un-plug for an entire weekend it was well worth it and we both look forward to the opportunity to return and visit the great hosts we met!
Wonderful long weekend in Sonoma at the Fairmont. I was tagging along on a work trip and we got stuck with a small room by the front desk - but it didn't matter, it was still very comfortable. The hotel was gorgeous, the pools were relaxing, and the food was great.
I opted for the normal pool over the spa pool because it was a lot less crowded. The spa was very nice and I treated myself to a facial (pricey!). The facial was relaxing and she made an effort to actually do a ton of extractions which I love. I did forget my MacBook computer charger and the hotel didn't have any on hand which caused some issues. The concierge was extremely friendly and personable.
